Common questions

What's a credit?

A unit of AI work. A lesson plan costs about 5 credits, a course skeleton 15, a grading session ~10 per submission, a single chat turn 1. Tune your usage to the tier that matches.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Two options. Upgrade, or paste your own provider API key (OpenAI / Anthropic / Google) and keep generating at your cost. Pencil falls back automatically and shows a clear banner so there are no surprises.

What about student data?

You can scrub PII (names, emails, IDs, school identifiers) with one click before sending content to AI. Real names come back in the teacher-facing feedback automatically.

Can I cancel?

Anytime, from the Stripe Customer Portal inside Settings. Your subscription stays active until the end of the current period.
